In the visual spectrum of light, lasers can be used to project three-dimensional objects as three-dimensional images, or holograms. The same is apparently true for X-ray lasers.
Taisia Gorkhover, a Panofsky fellow at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory in Menlo Park and a fan of X-ray images since she broke her finger at age 7, will give a talk on Tuesday, June 6, on her use of SLAC’s X-ray laser to create holograms of nanoscale objects.
Her presentation will include “the world’s first” 3D holograms of viruses and atomic clusters, according to SLAC.
The talk is set for 7:30 p.m. in the Panofsky Auditorium at 2575 Sand Hill Road in Menlo Park. Admission is free and seating is first come, first served. Click here for a live stream of the talk.
