Alpine Road between Skyline Boulevard and Pescadero Creek Road is expected to remain closed until about 5 p.m. today (Sept. 30) after a large truck carrying hot asphalt overturned earlier this afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The accident happened at 12:37 p.m. in the 9000 block of Alpine Road west of Skyline in Portola Valley, according to CHP spokesman Art Montiel. The truck spilled a large amount of its cargo onto the road and a small amount into Alpine Creek, Montiel said.
“The driver failed to make the turn and lost control,” he said.
The driver was uninjured, according to the CHP.
CHP officers said they expected the road to be cleared by about 5 p.m.
