The smartest and most fiscally responsible way to re-open would be to contract out the program thereby alleviating liability for the City. Other City sports activities are ongoing, and every other sport offered at the City except gymnastics is already contracted out. Proposal presented to City Council from a private vendor needs to be considered since a successful private vendor could reopen the Gymnastics safely and well staffed and in a month or so with no cost or risk to The City. Prior to Covid, the City managed program eliminated the boys team, eliminated birthday parties, and reduced class offerings by 25 percent. A successful private contractor can better serve the community. Currently GoldStar gymnastics serves 2300 students at their gymnastics facility in Sunnyvale, they are well positioned to serve Menlo Park.
