This is not going to enable more families to achieve the “California Dream.” It’s simply going to further enrich those people already living on acreage X 4. The newly built homes themselves will not be any less expensive, or not much. Not enough to allow middle class families to move in. Just more of the Facebook, Google, and venture capital crowd. Until the aforementioned firms, and those like them, begin to develop campuses in the East Bay (where there is much more space to build housing) bringing necessary grocery stores, small businesses, and infrastructure there, the “California Dream” will continue to be only a dream for the average person.
