San Mateo County Officials are controlling the new jail argument and won't even consider any recommendations made by experts. There are only 6 of them: Sheriff Munks and Supervisors Carole Groom, Adrienne Tissier, Rose Jacobs Gibson, Don Horsley and Dave Pine. The new jail is opposed by every San Mateo County citizen who is opposed to new taxation on their property or wages and the incurring of long term debt which will have to be repaid by themselves, their children and their grandchildren. A SMC Manager and the SMC Controller were dismissed by the County power structure because they provided the numbers to prove we COULD NOT AFFORD THE JAIL. Once it is built 40-44 million dollars to add to our 50 million dollar structural deficit. We all know that government borrowing MUST come to an end if we intend to make things better for the individual taxpayer instead of making things better for special interests such as politically influential labor unions. Let me also say that no reports have been done concluding that the jail is a good idea, only the numbers by the Sheriff's Office that would benefit from the new jail are not deemed bogus.

Ignore the wishes of the people - eerily similar to the methodology employed by the County in the Atherton Library in the Park project.
