Invader on front page, Oct. 18, 2006 issue

Original post made by Paul Heiple, Portola Valley: Ladera, on Oct 19, 2006

In the photo on the front page is a new weed, Dittrichia graveolens or stinkwort. In is the green plant on the left side of the path. This weed will probably be all along the path next year. I have watched this invader moving into new areas for several years while trying to warn people of its potential to cover large areas. I am sure the park knows nothing about it. If they build sports fields, the seeds will be spread by construction.
