Palo Alto backs e-bike ban on Baylands trails

After a debate that put Palo Alto's green values on a collision course, the City Council voted Monday night to ban e-bicycles on unpaved trails in all nature preserves, including the Baylands.

If the value of e-bikes is as commuter vehicle, replacing a car - then there should be a good alternate route up the peninsula, near the Bay. I think Bayshore Road serves this purpose pretty well. No need to go through the Baylands.

I do not think E bikes should be banned from the trails. Maybe they can install a speed limits on the trails, 10 miles per hour. I understand it would be hard to enforce it without a guard monitoring the trails. We need alternative other than cars.
