Wow, that's so horrible, I'm so sorry she experienced that anger and racism. Fuki Sushi is a local institution and I hope that the community will rally and not only stand up to hate when we see it, vote with our wallets to support locally owned businesses! As a 50 something white male, I apologize on behalf of this man for his ridiculous and inexcusable behavior.

I think it was terrible what happened and that what he did was inappropriate, but how is it racist? It seemed to be about cash and from there unAmerican. Couldn’t the same thing have been said if the owner was from Europe or Mexico or wherever. Where were the racist comments?

allied arts resident,

Maybe you missed the paragraph where he was quoted as saying:
"You are un-American! Where were you even born? Did you even go to school here? You are not American! Go back to your country! You don't belong here! We don't want you here!'""

Certainly a hate filled racist. It is sad that no patrons there stood up for the people at the restaurant or called the police, at least if they did it is not mentioned in the article. Glad Ray brought it to the publics attention, behavior like this is not acceptable anywhere.

This unfortunate incident is a clear example of anti-Asian American hate and discrimination. No question! As a Palo Alto native, let's do better to support business owners in our community and prevent future attacks on BIPOC individuals.
