David Frum: The Conservative Case for Voting for Clinton; "I appreciate that Donald Trump is too slovenly and incompetent to qualify as a true dictator"

Original post made by MacArthur, Menlo Park: other, on Nov 3, 2016

"To vote for Trump as a protest against Clinton’s faults would be like amputating a leg because of a sliver in the toe; cutting one’s throat to lower one’s blood pressure."

"Why support a candidate who rejects your preferences and offends your opinions? Don’t do it for her—do it for the republic, and the Constitution."

"Your hand may hesitate to put a mark beside the name, Hillary Clinton. You’re not doing it for her. The vote you cast is for the republic and the Constitution."

As Frum notes, the trolls best case for Trump is attacking Clinton on a variety of real and made-up issues, not actually defending the indefensible Trump. Note that in the responses below.

Town Hall has given 25 reasons not to vote for Hillary.

Web Link

The main reasons I am not voting for her are:

1) She is an angry entitled women who only cares about herself and cannot control her temper. Trump is narcissistic. Hillary is narcissistic, irrational, exercises extremely poor judgment, is unpredictable, and poses a far greater danger to society.

2) She gives signs off on a deal to give 20% of the United States Uranium reserves to Russia then falsely claims Trump is in Putin's pocket.

3) She defended a rapist of a 12 year old girl, laughs about it, suggests in her closing arguments that the innocent girl was asking for it, then hypocritically claims she is for women's rights.

4) She was an unmitigated disaster as Secretary of State and destabilized the region so much with her reckless and incompetent foreign policy then puts out these absurd ads about steady calm leadership. When she toppled Kaddafi, she created an anarchistic state that allowed ISIS to swoop in, seize the prized Libyan light crude and use the proceeds from its sale to grow the organization into a formidable terrorist group. She gave ISIS legs. Now the whole world is paying for her recklessness.

5) Makes knowingly false statements about Trump being a racist when her husband, when Governor of Arkansas interrupted his campaign for president so he could witness the execution of a mentally disabled man Ricky Ray Rector. This man did not even comprehend what was going to happen to him. After finishing his last meal he was asked why he didn't eat his dessert. His reply was "That's OK. I'll have it when I come back." Bill Clinton had no qualms of executing an African American Man, who was so obviously innocent due to mental defect, so the Clintons could look tough on crime.

6) Hillary has broken so many Federal Laws that it is obvious if she wins that Time Kaine will be President before she can even complete one term.

7) It's a tough choice when you can only choose between the Criminal and the Clown but the clown gets the nod because he won’t have to defend himself against impeachment, will have better people in his administration and a Supreme Court that respects the Constitution.

"She is an angry entitled women who only cares about herself and cannot control her temper."

Like all the other reasons listed - completely absurd. Even more so when you look at Trump's temper - witness the 3am tweets and other statements from his rallies, threats, belittling, name calling, etc..

Then compare Trumps temper to what HE told you about his sexual assualts not women.

The NUMBER ONE reason to vote FOR Clinton is Donald Trump.

Town Hall Reader,

Well said on all points,

I would add that Clinton spouts her position of being the protector of all woman when after Bill, groped, intimidated, raped and assaulted women since early in the governorship of Arkansas all the way through interns in two terms as president.

Hilliary not only stayed with her "man", She then put those same girls and women through horrible abuse and attacks of her own. Her attacks are well documented and were brutal.

Anyone that can admit that and still vote for her is sick. Again well documented.

Personally I would have preferred Rand Paul, but between Clinton and Trump I'll take Trump and as the polls tighten apparently so does 1/2 of America.

Hopefully he drains the swamp. The establishment on both sides are terrified that's why you have Republicans supporting Clinton.

Clinton will be fighting charges for the next 2 years. The country will not be able to function.

Suggest you go back and read Town Hall and my posts, If you can dispute any of the items let me know. But come back with facts. Try Google,

Also as Secretary of State give me 3 Clinton accomplishments. I can give you a list of failures.

She lied and Trump lied.

As for the rigged media,

CNN pro Clinton, Fox pro Trump,

but I didn't know how bad it was until Donna Brazil was caught feeding debate questions from the moderators to Hilliary.

The only reason they fired her was she couldn't stand under the scrutiny off even CNN.

I guess what bothers me the most is self rightous Bernie Sanders was cheated during the debates and he sold out his dignity to campaign for Clinton.

All you Bernie supporters should not vote as a protest to Bernie getting cheated by the Clinton/CNN machine.

When you can rig a National Presidential Debate you can rig an election.

Try to do a little research on Turkey,
The attempted coup, attempts to extradite Gulen, Kurdish PKK, Kurdish attacks on Southern Turkey, Erdogan controlling U.S. military access to Iraq and Syria. 7 different countries and factions involved in assault on Mosul. Including 5,000 U.S. boots on the ground. Which faction or country will occupy Mosul after taking over.
Isis blending in after take over. and more,
7 more hotspots during and after Mosul.

This is Obama's legacy, remember the J.V. Team reference, Obama is out campaigning for Clinton saying she will be the greatest president ever. Remember the Iran deal, or the Russia re-start?

We now know every world power had access to Secretary of State Clinton's e-mail. and our countries secrets.

"Chris Christie behaves like a “master puppeteer” who knows all that goes on in his administration, concluded a juror who weighed evidence in the seven-week corruption trial and voted to convict two of the New Jersey governor’s former allies.
Juror Sheryl Bender broke her silence in an interview one day after Bridget Anne Kelly and Bill Baroni were convicted, expressing bewilderment that neither Christie nor other members of his inner circle were held accountable in the plot to create traffic jams near the George Washington Bridge as a way to exact revenge on a New Jersey mayor.
Christie wasn’t charged, but was depicted at trial as an abusive bully whose aides punished perceived enemies. The scandal helped doom his Republican run for the presidential nomination."

David Frum may think "that Donald Trump is too slovenly and incompetent to qualify as a true dictator" but as the leader of the Republican Party, Trump is doing his best:

- fires an acting Attorney General investigating the Trump transition team

- fires the Director of the FBI who was investigating Trump and his team

- stonewalling the investigations into his campaign's ties with Russian intelligence agencies and Russia's espionage actions in American elections

- Trump takes weeks to fire his personal choice for National Security Advisor (Mike Flynn) who was acting as an unregistered foreign agent for Turkey (and others) as well as being compromised by Russia.

The list goes on and on and on and on, but if Trump was in another political party, he would be impeached for ANY ONE of the above.

The leader of the Republican Party truly embodies modern day GOP morals, namely: "Party before Country"

Who is more disgusting - Trump himself, or the political party that enables the Trump travesties?

Reporter: But beyond that it’s OK if the tax plan increases the deficit?

Trump: It is OK, because it won’t increase it for long. You may have two years where you’ll…you understand the expression “prime the pump”?

Reporter: Yes.

Trump: We have to prime the pump. … Have you heard that expression before, for this particular type of an event?

Reporter: Priming the pump?

Trump: Yeah, have you heard it?

Reporter: Yes.

Trump: Have you heard that expression used before? Because I haven’t heard it. I mean, I just…I came up with it a couple of days ago and I thought it was good. It’s what you have to do.

"President Trump revealed highly classified information to the Russian foreign minister and ambassador in a White House meeting last week, according to current and former U.S. officials, who said that Trump’s disclosures jeopardized a critical source of intelligence on the Islamic State.

"The information Trump relayed had been provided by a U.S. partner through an intelligence-sharing arrangement considered so sensitive that details have been withheld from allies and tightly restricted even within the U.S. government, officials said.

"The partner had not given the United States permission to share the material with Russia, and officials said that Trump’s decision to do so risks cooperation from an ally that has access to the inner workings of the Islamic State. After Trump’s meeting, senior White House officials took steps to contain the damage, placing calls to the CIA and National Security Agency."

I say wait. Keep the Trump trap baited and see what else we catch. Little harm to continue - Trump has zero political capital with which to do *too* much more damage.

The longer Trump goes on, the longer he destroys the credibility, viability and the dignity of those in the GOP who serve him. Look at Pence. Ryan. McConnell. And all those below Trump.

They are toast. Again, look at Pence - while quite a political toad previously, we now see all the Trump lies he's been caught up in, and Pence's own feeble lies to defend Trump that Trump himself has outed.

Thanks, Donald. Keep up the good work - destroying the GOP.

Latest victim, a person formerly with a sterling reputation? McMaster. While not a GOP politico, McMaster teaches all to steer clear of Trump if they seek to retain any dignity.

Note that some have realized this 'wraithing' ability of Trump (sucking the life/dignity from another's soul/reputation) and have already fled, trying to retain a scant bit of their reputation (Chaffetz, etc..)

Thanks for posting the David Brooks column, Menlo Voter. He's managed to articulate the Trump Reality (the reality of a 7-year-old) in a way that helped me better define my own queasy suspicions, and certainly stated the case better than I ever could have. An "infantalist," and a hollow man whose empty head endangers us all.

I am convinced that we as a country have stepped through the Looking Glass after hearing one of several interviews with members of the intelligence community who are alarmed by the recent disclosures. This particular interviewee had (I think) at least 30 years of experience in intelligence, and something he said stunned me:

He essentially said the "silver lining" to be found in Trumpty Dumpty's (OK, he didn't call him that, but we are in Wonderland now) refusal to sit for long briefings is that the intelligence officials can effectively keep highly sensitive information from him, with no consequences to them aside from being able to sleep better at night for knowing they're making the world safer by keeping this child in the dark.

So we've come to a point where keeping critical intelligence from the most powerful man in the world is considered by the adults trying to manage him the only way to keep the world safe. Does that just make your head feel as if it's going to explode?

Alice and friends -- "So we've come to a point where keeping critical intelligence from the most powerful man in the world is considered by the adults trying to manage him the only way to keep the world safe. Does that just make your head feel as if it's going to explode?"

Remember, though: "But her emails!"

And wouldn't you know it -- Robert Mueller, James Comey's predecessor at the FBI, has just been appointed as special counsel in the Russian matter.

FaceBook tells us yesterday about ads bought by Russians attacking Clinton.

Add in all the bots and trolling.

Nothing to see here.

Last month, Don Jr tild us about the meetings with Putin's crew.

Nothing to see here.

Nothing at all.

"She is an angry entitled women who only cares about herself and cannot control her temper. Trump is narcissistic. Hillary is narcissistic, irrational, exercises extremely poor judgment, is unpredictable, and poses a far greater danger to society."

That is so hilarious! That description is Trump to a Tee.

Funny how 6 months proves all the pre-election noise absurd.

Funny. But not "ha-ha"...

Paul Manafort offered to brief Putin's oligarch buddy on how to effect our American election.

When do we use the word "traitors"?

“If he needs private briefings we can accommodate” Manafort wrote in an email dated July 7, 2016

Prison.

Hard time.

From above....

" .... and the Clown but the clown gets the nod because he won’t have to defend himself against impeachment, will have better people in his administration "

Sure. Whatever you say.
