Sports Editor Keith Peters says farewell after 49-year career

The past 49 years have seen many historic achievements by local athletes and teams. The state championships by the Palo Alto football and girls' volleyball teams just weeks apart in 2010 remains as the most remarkable season to have covered high school sports. Watching Jeremy Lin lead the Paly boys to a state basketball crown in 2006 ranks up there, as well.

On behalf of the M-A Tennis Teams, thank you for your great reporting and all the visits you paid us over the years. On a personal note, I'll miss seeing you at all the sporting events. You covered me at the professional level and ultimately at the coaching level. That's a lot of years! Enjoy your retirement!

Congratulations on your retirement following a job well done with passion, knowledge, skill and integrity. I hope you remain in the community and get the urge to write up some of the sports events you will be enjoying.

Half a century of excellence, plus the incredible good luck of covering the incredible environment, sporting and otherwise, that is Stanford University. Well done, Keith. Enjoyed working with you and following your coverage.
