A man and a teenage boy suspected of a home burglary in Menlo Park were caught and jailed, after police responded to a call from a neighbor reporting suspicious activity.

The Menlo Park Police Department responded to a call at 9:36 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, regarding the 100 block of Oak Court, near Cafe Zoe on Menalto Avenue. A resident had observed two people knock on the front door of a neighbor’s house and then walk around to the rear of the house out of view.

Police, who said they were on the scene in about a minute, found the back door of the home open and began to search the area.

Officers saw two people who matched the neighbor’s description hiding in the front yard of a home several blocks away, in the 1000 block of Woodland Avenue.

Police said they arrested the two and recovered property. They booked Markeese Crooks, 22, of Union City into the San Mateo County jail and a 17-year-old male from East Palo Alto into county juvenile hall.

Police ask anyone with further information about the incident to call (650) 330-6300.
