Downtown Parking

Original post made by Jim Lewis, Menlo Park: Downtown, on Apr 27, 2014

The City Council will hold a study session on the topic of Downtown Parking this coming Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at 7:00 pm. Does anyone have a suggestion or recommendation for them?

In the past there has been concerns about 1)inadequate signage, 2) narrow driveways, 3) narrow parking places resulting in chipped paint on car doors, 4) no parking garages, even though Palo Alto and Redwood City, and others, offer them, 5) One Hour and Two Hour time limits are too short, 6) parking ticket program is too aggressive, with tickets given within minutes over the time limit, 7) no parking meters that are coin operated, 8) confusing machines in two lots where countless people pay for the first two hours and simply don't understand how the system works,9) Remove the ugly No Parking sign behind The Hub Restaurant (particularly since the HUB is out of business and permanently closed), and so on.

This is an opportunity to support the current parking regulations or chime in with ideas, practical and creative, for a better downtown shopping experience.
