Enough big government! This is not a federal project!

Install toll booths and let the Free Market fund it.

I am sure the original settlers of Woodside thought, "Oh no, if we put in the roads then the cars will come and where will the riders ride...relegated to the small path alongside the black ribbon of asphault...oh the shame of it...." In case you hadn't noticed Woodside's character has changed. There is so much traffic that there is absolutley NO charm to the town from 8am to 5 pm. Keeping the bridges in their current state just makes the towns people look like the have their head in the ground! It is downright dangerous.

One of those bridges is on the commute path from Hwy. 84 to Sand Hill Road (think of all of the people who commute from Skyline, Skylonda, La Honda, San Gregorio and Pescadero to Stanford and Silicon Valley) and is an accident waiting to happen. Without that bridge, all of that traffic would go on Woodside Road and double the traffic at that end of town past the elementary school and Robert's - what a mess that would be! There are a lot of smart people in this community - having early 20th century bridges in the 21st century is not a smart solution - make the one on Portola Road wider, safer for cars, bikes, pedestrians and equestrians or the town will be in a world of hurt if it fails... Take the Federal money - those bridges are driven on by many who don't live in the town of Woodside, so it makes sense to share the cost with the larger tax base.

I recall a bicyclist fatality on the bridge on Mountain Home - a car driver forced a bicyclist into the concrete side. There may not be lots of crashes, but one of those is enough!
