Court cuts office hours

State budget cuts have forced the San Mateo County Superior Court clerk's office to reduce its public service hours beginning Feb. 4, court officials announced.

The changes are a direct result of state-imposed budged cuts to the county trial courts of more than $1 billion over the past five years, court officials said.

Public service hours for civil, small claims, family law, probate and juvenile court will be Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and on Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to noon.

Traffic and criminal public service hours will be Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and on Fridays from 8 a.m. to noon.

The records division will continue to be open from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Thursday but will close at noon on Fridays. Phone hours for all offices will be Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Fridays from 10 a.m. to noon.

Document drop boxes are located outside each clerk's office for filing papers or submitting payments.

The court invites anyone who might want to comment on the changes to do so online before Jan. 30 at (click "invitation to comment"), or by mail to: Superior Court of California, County of San Mateo, Attn: Rodina Catalano, deputy court executive officer, 400 County Center, 2nd Floor, Redwood City, CA. 94063.
