Menlo Park dentist Dr. Jan Gabus has raised $67,000 for the Mid-Peninsula Dental Health Foundation through sponsors of his long-distance biking trips. The foundation provides low-cost dental care for the working poor who do not have insurance or government assistance to cover dental costs.
Last summer, Dr. Gabus' 300-mile biking trip from Saratoga Springs, New York, to Montreal, Canada, raised more than $13,000 for the foundation, he said.
From 1999 to 2007, he also raised more than $100,000 for the Menlo Park Kiwanis Foundation's college scholarship program for seniors at Menlo-Atherton High School.
