A small crowd gathered at the Stanford Park Hotel on Oct. 16 to listen to Mayor Kirsten Keith’s state of the city speech. “We’ve had a really great year,” she said.
After thanking Menlo Park’s staff and volunteers, Ms. Keith briefly previewed upcoming developments on El Camino Real and noted issues associated with growth — traffic, parking, housing.
She encouraged residents to vote for Measure K to raise the city’s hotel tax, and also suggested that Menlo Park develop a plan for use of its aquifers, before proceeding to sell water to the Sharon Heights Golf and Country Club.
I guess Ms. Keith and I have a different definition of the word ‘great’.
Joe, I do not recall Ms. Keith making the declaration stated in the headline. If you want to know what she did say, look here: http://menlopark-atherton.patch.com/articles/keith-delivers-state-of-menlo-park-address
The Council is a bunch of self-serving hypocrites who hire and retain City executives who are just as bad.
Increase some taxes and the politicos will think it’s just great
How much money did the city spend for the room and refreshments at the Stanford Park?
Why wasn’t a city facility like the council chambers used?
Same old story, wasting our tax dollars for their vanity.
The Chamber of Commerce sponsored the event with a no-host bar. On another thread http://menlopark-atherton.patch.com/articles/keith-delivers-state-of-menlo-park-address , Heyward Robinson pointed out that Council Chambers were used in years past. If Heyward is the only person that remembers this, the event was obviously not very memorable.
