Fire breaks out at Family Farm Saturday

No injuries reported at property owned by exclusive San Francisco club

A one-alarm fire at Family Farm, located at 1400 Portola Road in Woodside, was contained Saturday morning with no injuries reported, according to Dan Ghiorso, chief of the Woodside Fire Protection District.

The blaze was reported at 10:09 a.m., and nine emergency units responded, knocking down the fire within about 45 minutes.

The fire broke out in one of the structures on the sprawling property, which is owned by The Family Club, an exclusive men's club out of San Francisco founded more than 100 years ago by journalists affiliated with William Randolph Hearst. The site is used by club members and occasionally rented out to the public for weddings.

The fire did not spread to the surrounding trees, Chief Ghiorso said.
