Jack Wolf scored both of his goals in the fourth quarter and the host Menlo-Atherton boys' lacrosse team opened Peninsula Athletic League play with a 7-4 decision over defending league champion Sacred Heart Prep on Wednesday night.
Andrew Ojeda also scored a pair for the Bears (5-0, 1-0), who play at Urban on Friday at 5:30 p.m.
Tommy Barnds recorded a pair of goals and two assists for the Gators (3-2, 0-1), who host Menlo at 3:30 p.m. Friday.
The match was tied at 3-3 entering the fourth quarter. That's when Jack Hansen scored and sparked a quick succession of goals for M-A.
Both goalkeepers played well, with M-A's Cooper Waymire saving 12 and SHP's Cody Weibe stopping seven shots.
Trevor Brinton and Michael Strack also scored for M-A. Kevin Tinsley and Teddy Vought added goals for the Gators.

The Vikings opened its SCVAL El Camino Division season with a 15-0 victory over host Lynbrook on Wednesday. Paly (3-1, 1-0) hopes to continue its good fortune Friday when it hosts Cupertino at 4 p.m.
Palo Alto dropped the first eight games of last season and finished 7-16 overall. The Vikings, who took advantage of seven Lynbrook errors to score nine unearned runs, are on their way to reversing that this time around.
Freshman Ella Jones hit her first career home run, doubled and drove in two runs for the Vikings, who scored all their runs in the first three innings.
Sydney Liu added three hits and drove in a run, Mackenzie Glassford doubled twice and drove in two runs and Maggie Renteria added two hits and two RBI.
Fabiana Teofan (2-0) walked one, struck out five and allowed five hits in pitching the five-inning shutout. She has yet to give up an earned run in 9 2/3 innings this season. Teofan also collected a pair of hits.
Liu has six hits in her last nine official at bats and is hitting .545 for the season.
Menlo just keeps dominating in West Bay Athletic League play. Its 6-1 victory at Sacred Heart Prep on Wednesday upped the Knights record to 6-0 in league play and extended their league winning streak to 246 matches.
The Knights sailed to straight-sets victories in singles with freshman Brandon Aprill and junior Clark Safran winning at Nos. 1 and 2. Sophomore Andrei Volgin and junior Tucker Matta secured wins at Nos. 3 and 4.
In doubles, junior Bo Leschly and senior Mark Ball won at No. 1 and the seniors duo of Will Borie and Marco Volpi teamed for a win at No. 2.
Sacred Heart Prep's Will Texido and Jack Stone won at No. 3 doubles.
Menlo (9-1 overall) next plays Harker at home Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. Sacred Heart Prep (5-4, 4-2) is at Priory on Friday at 3:30 p.m.
In other matches, Menlo-Atherton dropped a 6-1 nonleague decision to host Monta Vista (8-1) on Wednesday. The Bears (9-3, 7-0) return to PAL action Thursday at home Thursday against Carlmont at 4 p.m.
Luke Peterson shot a 1-over par 36 on the Sunnyvale GC course Wednesday to help Sacred Heart Prep beat host The King's Academy, 191-223, in a West Bay Athletic League match.
Erik Morris and Finn O'Kelly each added rounds of 37 for the Gators (2-2, 2-1).
Emma Briger recorded 11 saves but Sacred Heart Prep fell, 8-5, to visiting University Prep, 8-5, in a nonleague game Wednesday.
Sasha Bellack and Ingrid Corrigan each scored twice for the Gators (1-1), who travel to Amador Valley for a nonleague game Monday at 4 p.m.

Gunn senior Marisa Agarwal recorded a score of 247.03 on the 1-meter board to earn an early victory for the Titans' swimming and diving team.
The Titan swimmers compete at Saratoga on Thursday at 3:45 p.m. The defending CCS champion Gunn boys team will also be competing.
