Anthem, a high-end furniture and home-decor store in San Francisco's Pacific Heights neighborhood, may open a shop in Menlo Park.

Plans have been submitted to the city to update the retail space at 889 Santa Cruz Ave., next to Alys Grace and near Peet's in downtown Menlo Park. Those plans were approved without discussion in the consent calendar by the Planning Commission on Nov. 7.

Drawings show storefront "Anthem" signage, with wooden French doors and two skylights.

According to the project description by Scott Hulett, the company has done some outreach and the initial community response was positive.

"The building has been sitting vacant for some time and there is excitement to see it fixed up and open for business again," he wrote.

We need your support now more than ever. Can we count on you?
