Menlo Park: Gas leak secured

The city of Menlo Park reports that a gas leak at 2140 Santa Cruz Ave. has been secured.

Residents at a Menlo Park apartment complex at that location were asked to shelter in place following a break in a small gas line this afternoon, fire and utility officials said.

The 2-inch line feeding to the Menlo Commons complex was broken by a third-party contractor, according to PG&E spokesman Jason King.

PG&E crews were dispatched at 2:44 p.m. and arrived on scene at 3:05 p.m., King said.

Firefighters were also on the scene and had asked residents to shelter in place, Menlo Park Fire Protection District Division Chief Frank Fraone said.

Fraone said the line was a small one connecting to the front of the complex and that the break occurred at an exterior wall.
