Ms. Butler is the author of "Valley of Santa Clara," and has taught at Foothill College and UC Extension. In the workshops, she will focus on memoir writing, with group participation and creative narrative prompts, she said.

The workshops run for four weeks on Thursdays from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. The four-week series costs $40 to $45; the drop-in fee is $15 per session.
