How to end the summer

Uploaded: Aug 13, 2019
There is always one experience that truly makes it feel like summer is here. For us, that day was Friday June 21st, which happened to be the actual first day of summer.

The kids and I spent almost 4 hours at Mitchell Park with our good friends. It was one of the best outings I had had in a long time. The weather was gorgeous, the park was filled with energy and we didn’t have anywhere we needed to rush off too. We could let the kids play as long as they wanted. It didn’t matter if their shoes and clothes got soaked in the splash pad. We could just relax and enjoy our day. It was simply a wonderful relaxing summer outing.

There is also always one experience that makes you realize how quickly summer is ending. For me that was when I looked at our calendar to schedule a get together with friends before the school year started. Some of us have known each other since our oldest kids were babies. And every year it becomes more and more difficult to coordinate schedules. However, we found a way and just had that get together this morning.

While we’ve had many fun summer adventures at the beach, zoo, museums, etc, this outing extra special to me. Our kids ran off and played together. My friends and I caught up. Friends that have stuck with us since the baby years. And friends that I hope to continue to lean on this year and in the years to come. What a wonderful and memorable way to end the summer.
