This year the Common Application revised and rolled out (some) new essay prompts. Many wondered why the changes? Here is a short explanation and a link to a blog article.

"The goal of revising the essay prompts was to ensure that all applicants, regardless of background or access to counseling, can see themselves and their stories within the prompts. Scott Anderson, Senior Director for Access and Education at The Common App, has written several HuffPost articles on the significance of helping students see themselves in the application—so they can see themselves in college.
