Bradley?s Fine Diner to add lunch and brunch

Uploaded: Dec 23, 2014
Starting in the new year, Bradley's Fine Diner (BFD) in Menlo Park will be adding lunch and brunch service.

Brunch will be served starting Saturday, Jan. 3, and continue on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Lunch will be available Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (Dinner service, available since opening, is from 5 to 9 p.m. every day and until 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.)

Acclaimed chef Bradley Ogden opened BFD, his version of a modern California diner, across from the Caltrain station at 1165 Merrill St. in November.

In that vein, brunch will include starters like wood-grilled flatbread with shrimp and pesto; artisan grilled cheese bites; chive pancake with trout salad and meyer lemon crème fraiche; Rockefeller oysters and mains such as buttermilk soufflé pancakes and short rib hash with roasted root vegetables, to name a few. Items will of course rotate depending on seasonality and availability. There's also the typical French toast, scrambles, and a burger.

BFD will be offering similar starters for lunch (flatbread, salads, crab crakes, soup). Lunch mains include fish and chips, chicken breast, ham and cheese sandwich topped with a fried egg, grilled local sturgeon, vegan Bolognese and oak-grilled pork rib chop.

They also have a full liquor license, so expect brunch-style drinks on the weekends.

The buzz for this restaurant is somewhere between really negative and non existent. Has anyone gone in the last couple of weeks? We'd like for it to succeed but the reviews around food, service and price have not been good at all. Like others, we'll wait to hear a positive friend review before heading over.
