Su Hong regulars, don't despair. Bee King, owner of the venerable Chinese restaurant at 1039 El Camino Real in Menlo Park, says the restaurant will reopen when she is able to assemble a competent staff.
Mrs. King, who has been running help wanted ads in Chinese-American newspapers, says she's having a hard time trying to find qualified people. Many former employees have relocated and it is difficult to find workers willing to commute to Menlo Park.
"If we were in San Francisco or San Jose we wouldn't have a problem, but when we say Menlo Park, they say 'Oh, it's too far away.'"
Su Hong closed June 13 after 35 years in business. At the time Ms. King said the restaurant was closing for remodeling. The kitchen has now been renovated, she says. The dining rooms will remain the same. Su Hong ToGo at 630 Menlo Ave. in Menlo Park remains open for business.
