Junior Riders hold horse show

Bookmark and Share
More than 60 children, ages 6 to 16, took part in the Woodside Junior Riders 65th annual horse show on Aug. 12 at 3345 Tripp Road in Woodside.

The show marked the completion of the eight-week summer English riding program. All riders received a ribbon to celebrate their accomplishments.

This year's highlights included a drill team program with 10 of the more advanced riders, and "Grand Entry of the Flags," says program director Kathi Dancer.

Ms. Dancer was assisted by volunteers, some of whom were students in the program more than 30 years ago.

Woodside Junior Riders is a nonprofit summer English riding program, where children learn horsemanship, horse safety, and how to care for and respect horses. A local institution since 1947, it is the oldest and longest running riding program for children on the Peninsula.
