Letter: Time to install fire alarms in local schools

Virginia Chang Kiraly, the newly elected board member of the fire protection district, promoted the idea of installing fire alarms connected to the fire department in schools around Menlo Park that don't already have them.

I am a big supporter of this idea, for I am a student at Hillview Middle School. The fact that many schools do not have fire alarms directly connected to the fire department baffles me, for this is dangerous for students and teachers.

A fire could happen in a school, and the fire department would not even know. I hope your newspaper supports and promotes this topic and makes this issue heard in the Menlo Park community.
