ACLU sponsors scholarship contest
The Mid-Peninsula chapter of the ACLU is sponsoring a scholarship competition with a prize of $600 awarded to the high school student who submits the best essay on: "Electronic communications: Its effect on freedom of speech, rights of privacy and government transparency."
Entries must be submitted by 5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15.
The award honors Christiane Cook, who died this year at the age of 91. She was a long-time professor at San Jose State University and an advocate for citizen participation in public life.
