Letter: Parking meters will cost more that they generateRegarding the Almanac's article last week describing the vote by the Menlo Park City Council to buy six pay meters for parking plazas 1 and 5 at a cost of $55,364, plus additional city expenditures for signs and painting: the total cost will be about $60,000.
Have City Council members calculated, as I have, that it will take at least 40,000 hours of "overtime parking" at an average cost of $1.50 per hour to recover the $60,000? Most residents would surely consider this proposal to be financially unsound and untimely. What am I missing?
