Around Town: Online auction benefits M-A
Travel to Mexico, ski at world-class resorts, tour Facebook, enjoy a gourmet meal, see the World Champion Giants, get tickets to a "GLEE Live!" or Katy Perry concert ... and support Menlo-Atherton High School at the same time.
M-A High's on-line auction, M-A on eBay, opens Monday, April 25. and closes Sunday, May 1.
Sponsored by the school's Foundation for the Future, the auction funds smaller class sizes, expanded curriculum, professional development for teachers, and other programs and services, said spokesperson Stephen Fioretti of the foundation.
Anyone can bid on about 120 auction items online.
One of the highlights is an Italian dinner for 11 prepared by the M-A boys' water polo coach Marco Palazzo and his wife Paola. "Marco hails from Sicily and played water polo professionally for years before bringing his polo and culinary skills to California," says Mr. Fioretti.
"Marco and Paola will prepare a Sicilian meal for you and your friends, complemented with a selection of Italian wines. The party can either be catered at your home or hosted at the home of one of the dinner sponsors."
