Man flashes fake badge at teens

Bookmark and Share
Two 15-year-old boys walking along Willow Road early Sunday evening encountered a stranger flashing a fake law enforcement badge, according to the Menlo Park police. "Freeze and don't move," he told them.

The stranger, described as a Caucasian man around 30 years old with a goatee and wearing a blue flannel shirt, was standing near a brown pickup truck parked in the 1100 block of Willow Road around 7:40 p.m.

The man then said, "Relax, it's a joke."

The boys fled, and the man made no attempt to chase or grab them. They didn't recognize the man or the truck, said police spokeswoman Nicole Acker.
