Woodside bans plastic bags at checkout counters

To encourage the use of reusable shopping bags, Woodside will follow the lead of county government and ban flimsy plastic bags at retail checkout counters starting on April 22. Retailers may continue to use plastic bags for certain items, and customers without bags of their own will have to pay 10 cents to buy a paper one.

I find a bit offensive that the town council, in their superior and ultimate wisdom, must tell the uneducated electorate of Woodside how to behave by restricting our use of, God forbid, plastic bags. We are obviously too ignorant to be aware of the facts and need their stern guidance.
