The end is near for 25 mph speed limits on many of the narrow winding streets of the Woodside Glens neighborhood in Woodside. A new 20 mph limit will affect Alta Mesa Road, Glenwood Avenue, Highland Terrace, Hillside Drive, Otis Avenue, Ridge Court and Toyon Court.

Cars get off 280 at Edgewood and will do 65MPH coming down Canada Road. Canada needs more stop signs to slow them down before they get to the neighborhood.

I live on a street in Emerald Hills with speed bumps (15 mph speed limit) and no sidewalks. Recently, the roads were repaved and we had a few weeks without the bumps. The speed limit signs never went away.I would say the average speed went from 15-20 up to 30 mph with some yahoos coming through at 40. Really scary. The bumps are ugly but effective. Its a lot safer for the many pedestrians.

The residents of Glencrag Way have been trying for years to get speed bumps installed and/or the speed limit reduced. Our situation is just like the Glens, narrow winding roads with no sidewalks, not to mention the creek which runs right next to the road. We can't even walk our dogs without fear of getting hit by someone driving like they were in the Grand Prix. This is especially true on lower Glencrag where the road flattens a little after coming off the higher areas and these people think they can make up a little time. When will the Council consider our request?

Think closely about the details of speed bumps before thinking about them. I'm not strictly opposed to speed bumps, but let's be clear what kind. So many are installed poorly or simply too abusive to cars no matter what speed. Sharp edged ones that are hard no mater what you're driving at what speed unless you are a slow moving SUV. Larger ones, mis-installed that produce a pitch pole effect even when travelling under 15mph with many cars. Just drive around the Willows in MP to see what I mean. O'Connor ones are just fine. They get your attention if you are speeding but aren't violent at normal speeds. The ones on Durham have damaged my car at 10mph.
