Woodside: A new course at Menlo Country Club

The project to modernize the 25-year-old golf course at Woodside's Menlo Country Club, shown in this July 19 photo, will include about 180,000 cubic yards of grading and about 63,000 cubic yards of added sand, officials say.

I'm sorry to read that "53 mature native trees" are to be felled. Even though a lot of new trees are to be planted, which is commendable, large old trees are priceless, and can't be compared to little new trees that will look great - in 50 or more years. Sad, but not a world crises, I know, but sad none the less.
