Theft reports have been increasing with the recession. But there is little relief in sight. Property crimes have a very low priority with the sheriff and police departments - a situation that has existed for more than 8 years in my experience. The sheriff will take a report, as required for insurance purposes, but that is the end,no matter how much information one provides - even suspect names. My 2005 report was assigned to a detective. But he never contacted us mor were we able to contact him - always busy with more serious crimes.
