I am very honored by this endorsement from the Almanac. I will take this as an encouragement to work harder to improve the quality of life for every resident in Menlo Park.
As your city council member, I will tackle local issues such as public safety, flood insurance, and traffic. I will also apply my background in finance and accounting to keep our city financially robust.
If Menlo Park re-elects Kelly Fergusson, I'll move to Canada with Alec Baldwin.
Don't worry POGO, Kelly certainly doesn't have MY vote. LOL
This is a refreshing endorsement from the Almanac. Menlo Park can do no better than to have on its council a resident from Bell Haven with Carolyn Clarke's qualifications. It has been a long time since our city has had a council member to represent the Belle Haven community. Imagine the city knowing first hand the issues important to the residents of the east side of 101. Setting aside $90K for an outreach program sounds OK but it smacks of a UNICEF project in a foreign country. Belle Haven is just across the freeway. Carolyn Clarke knows the community and understands its need for the very services we take for granted: grocery stores, banks, police station, library. It's time to level the playing field in city government and we're lucky to have a candidate with a background in finance who is willing to serve. Hats off to the Almanac!
Although it's great to have council members from diverse backgrounds, we do not have districts in Menlo Park. Council members are supposed to represent the entire city, not just their neighborhood. As I read Carolyn Clarke's statement above, she understands this. It is a disservice to her to brand her as "representing the Belle Haven community."
Belle Haven, by the way, is not so different from the rest of Menlo Park. Mostly hardworking people living in well-maintained single family homes raising their kids. It's not East Oakland or Compton. Some of you need to get out a little more.
