Guest opinion: City is ahead of state on pension reform

Last week, Gov. Jerry Brown signed into law AB340, a historic bill reforming California's pension system. This law will save California taxpayers billions and begins the process of restoring financial stability to the state's pension funds. Credit rating agencies have already reacted positively to the news. The bill received overwhelming bi-partisan support in the state legislature.

Thank you, Almanac, for publishing my perspective on pension reform, and allowing me to highlight the City Council's strides in managing employee costs in the short- and long-term.

Ferguson does not seem to understand that writing about what has happened is very different then being someone who made it happen.

Ferguson has been running behind the pension reform train ever since it left the station.

Spare us Kelly. You were against measure L until you were for it. Problem is, you were for it when you figured out it was going to pass. Go back and talk to your union handlers as to what to say next. I wouldn't vote for you for dog catcher. Good luck in November.
