"Do I regret the incident happened? Of course, as it was certainly never my intention to do so."
Kelly, you're either a liar or a dolt. You're a dolt if you honestly didn't intend to violate the Brown Act as what you did is about the simplest violation of the Act there is. You should have known it was a violation. If you're not a dolt, then you're a liar. My hunch is you're the latter. In either you're not fit to serve. Please step down.
Kelly Fergusson is nothing more than a Union shill. She has continuously represented the interests of the unions while turning her back on the best interest of the residents of Menlo Park.
She vigorously opposed Measure L and even wrote a ballot statement arguing against the measure and thus fiscal responsibility. One more term of Fergusson and we would not have any reserves left.
Reserves are important as the bond rating does correlate with the reserves. The higher the reserves the higher the bond rating. The lower the reserves the lower the bond rating. The lower the bond rating the higher the interest rate. One more term of Fergusson and Menlo Park would have junk bond status.
Kelly sent out emails to supporters (former or otherwise --- I got one), asking for donations to fund her effort.
I will not support her ever again, and her asking me for funds is a big joke. She wants to show everyone how much money she can raise to fund her effort. Good luck Kelly. I think you are going to very surprised at how many former supporters, don't want you back on council.
With no other viable candidates on the horizon, we imagine Mueller and Fergusson both elected in November. That sets the mayoral rotation in place with Ohtaki in December of 2012, Mueller in December of 2013, and yes... Kelly Fergusson in December of 2014. According to Peter Carpenter, she was never mayor in 2010, so she'd be next in line, whether or not the incumbents run in 2014.
Just remember that in a democracy we get exactly the kind of government that we deserve.
Citizen get to decide if they will run for office and citizens then decide whom to elect.
If only less than the best decide to run and few decide to vote then the result will be to our shame.
Kelly is well-meaning. She isn't the evil person some try to make her out to be. I don't always agree with her but she talks with me. And I am disappointed that she hasn't supported residential guidelines, since that's what she ran on originally. But I stand by her integrity as a person. Too bad there are so many truly mean-spirited people who vilify someone that don't even know.
"Too bad there are so many truly mean-spirited people who vilify someone that don't even know."
vilify - to utter slanderous and abusive statements against
I see no such vilification here and people who run for public office deserve and should accept the scrutiny and criticism that comes with being a public figure.
I don't see her being portrayed as evil. She is certainly a self promoter and during her 8 years on council she has abandoned her supporters so many times, she shouldn't be elected again.
Her support of the unions on the pension issue, clearly shows you how far out of touch she has become. She was the leader in getting the unions the pension rate increase in the first place.
The aborted and wasted time on the Park Theater. Even Keplers, which somehow has stayed in business, even though they have run up huge debts can't be claimed as a success.
Anyway, my mind is made up, I'll not vote for her again. I'm not happy with who has shown up so far, but there is plenty of time for others to appear.
I certainly haven't portrayed Kelly as an "evil" person. I've claimed she's either stupid or a liar. Never said evil. Still think she's a liar as nothing has shown me she's stupid.
Don't miss out on the discussion!
