This is despicably awful. I'm so sorry for the victim. Have spent much time on that street, which is normally very safe, it's hard to imagine some dirtbag doing this. I'm very glad to know she wasn't seriously injured.

Sorry libs but there is something to be said for carrying a gun if you know how to use it. I am 68 and come from a ranch and if I run into this creep and he attacks me? He better be prepared for a real fight! I am sickened by our elderly folks being attacked like this with no defense. OK then maybe pepper spray? Or a German Shepherd?

Ranch Gal - do you carry concealed? You know that the 'burbs are a tad different from being on a ranch, right? I've done target shooting & shotgun practice on ranches, where you know, it's not the 'burbs. And on ranges. Oh, & I'm a lib, too. Please, keep your politics out of this. What happened was terrible & has nothing to do with guns/no guns. I personally see more possible ageism & sexism & utter disrespect in this incident than politics.
Pepper spray is good, unless it's windy. A boat horn can startle & that's a good thing. IMO, the German Shepherd is the likely best deterrent, but not everyone can or should handle a big dog.
Maybe this doofus will set his hair on fire trying to light his next smoke.

Yes Ranch Gal,
Cause the appropriate response would be to shoot the punk.
Did you even think about what you were saying before you said it? I'm guessing you didn't.
Since people generally frown when you shoot unarmed people. The woman didn't even need to go to the hospital, yet you think the proper response would have been to shoot the kid?
You keep clinging to those guns and religion and watching Fox News.
