Thanks for posting this news! Can't wait to attend.
" has proved so divisive that city officials are reportedly considering placing it on the ballot for a public vote"
Time to get Occupy involved in Atherton's library debacle.
Brilliant! I literally snorted my coffee!
Big difference between Saltworks/Cargill and the Atherton Library is that one affects the entire Bay Area and the environment and quality of life in adjacent cities.
What ever happened to "Occupy Wall Street"? Nothing, they had no effect at all. Are we going to name every protest "Occupy"? It will be interesting to see how many show up.
Perhaps if they would occupy a job, pay some taxes and stop wasting our police resources who aren't the enemy anyhow. Ignorance is. Like the squatters who are trespassing in Albany. They only plan to feed themselves on someone else's property. SF had to replace grass fields RUINED with these urban anarchist bums. Their whole scheme is finished.
I don't think the "Occupy" movement was terribly "productive" in Oakland. However, I have to agree with them on this one; the Saltworks project is poorly conceived. Last I heard, they hadn't identified a source of fresh water, and it's in an area at risk of flooding.
Just got back from DMB's local office located at 1700 Seaport Blvd, Redwood City where the Occupy Saltworks group is. The Security personnel refused to allow us the enter the building and the refused to acknowledge if their office was even there. Stealth....
No matter the good size turnout of employed/retired/tax paying citizens showed up.
Thanks for taking the time to take a stand.
William - every single of the many people I know who've participated in Occupy in various parts of the country are employed taxpayers. The majority of them have at least some college education & all but 3 are over 30. The Occupy Redwood City folks that I've met have all been thoughtful, intelligent, respectful, caring & diverse.
Brilliant - I snorted water when I read your comment re Atherton Library. That would be *hilarious*, at least until the po-po arrived.
Mr. Stogner - thanks for giving a brief report re what happened.
To the hummer...Exactly the point. Without order there is chaos. There are prodecures and ways of getting things done without violence via proper channels. Those who complete their full education understand this. Those with partial completion are befuddled by it. Either rally enough people to vote in your candidate else live with the results. The development process for Salt works include meeting open to the publid for the planning/environmental impact, etc...go lawfully occupy that. But demonsration just for fun yield less results. Glad to see people identify themselves with movements monitored by the FBI.
M Stogner How many showed up? I agree that this project probably should not be built, but to protest under the"Occupy" name is absurd.
Bob, about two dozen at 3:30. I'm curious why you say absurd for Occupy Saltworks. The issue is very important for the Redwood City residents and voters to realize that as little as 4 votes from the council members could authorize this project.
You all come up to Crescent City and occupy PBSP. We have plenty of room. We will give you 3 hots and a cot. Stay a while. A long while.
Greg Lewis, what inspired you to say something so offensive? I know someone in there, someone who murdered someone dear to me.
I've met some of the Occupy Redwood City folks & they're nothing like what the naysayers try to pretend that they are.
Don't miss out on the discussion!
