Reinstate Atherton environmental committee, town attorney recommends

The town's advisory Environmental Programs Committee should be reinstated now that an investigation of some of its practices has concluded, but measures must be put in place to avoid the kinds of problems that led to its suspension in December, Atherton's city attorney has recommended.

It would seem the Environmental Programs Committee's web site would be smart place to discuss the Environmental Impact Report on building a new library on the park. Is the council majority stopping dialogue on the topic? The Transportation committee can not place the item on an agenda, and Park and Recreation Commission's recommendation for a vote of the town was rejected by the council as well.

Ms. Gardner deserves much credit for what she has done for the EPC and Atherton. She has raised thousands of dollars in donations, donated her own money, and thousands of hours of her own time working with residents and schools on numerous programs to reduce Atherton's energy consumption.

It appears it was actually Ms. Gardner of the EPC that caught the procedure error. The town council gets a printout of all expenses from the city manager, yet no one noticed any item to question.
