Schools & Kids, posted by Editor, The Almanac Online, on Dec 14, 2011 at 9:25 am

I have to believe that one of the District's hopes is to create a bidding war between Woodland School and Phillips Brooks School over the school site. For years, Phillips Brooks sought to build a new school along the 280/Sand Hill corridor without success. As a former Menlo Park resident and a parent at another private school located in Menlo Park, I can tell you from my personal experience over the course of 10 years that the neighbors along Avy Avenue have not had a positive experience with the PBS traffic. I cannot tell you the number of times mothers in big SUV"s--and I'm a mother in a big SUV too--blatantly blocked traffic while waiting to either drop off or pick up their children from school. PBS has a reputation of entitlement and my guess is that entitlement will spill over into the Ladera community if the district is hoping to create a bidding war between the two schools. And if you think I'm crabby, don't even get me started on the traffic caused by the Rosewood Hotel. . . .
