Schools & Kids, posted by Editor, The Almanac Online, on Oct 25, 2011 at 12:33 pm

There are plenty of wonderful, talented, well-trained teachers who do what they do because they love it. And then there are the rest. This guy is what gives tenure a bad name. He was allowed to stay in the wrong job for too long and when the school tried to make a change he screamed Discrimination. He was not credentialed in his subject area so why he was allowed to ever teach it is a question, but now the taxpayers have to bear the burden. Tenure is meant to protect good teachers from being fired once they begin to earn too much, but in my experience it just allows burned out or bad teachers to keep jobs and hurt kids. Shame, shame that he was able to collect for that, and congratulations to M-A and Matthew Zito for standing up for the right thing.

OK, so in the end we have a "below basic" instructor teaching "below basic" students - sounds like the right match!

I am very tired of hearing "discrimination" screamed every time anyone other than a "Caucasian" is brought to justice or dismissed from their position because of inefficiency. Hurray for MA., it's about time.
