Menlo Atherton wears out 5 pitchers in 5 innings for 17-1 win
Sports, posted by Linda Lange, a member of the Menlo-Atherton High School community, on Apr 18, 2011 at 9:42 pm

The MA bats continued their hot streak as they wore out 5 Center High School Pitchers scoring 17 runs in 5 innings to start off a spring break tournament in Rancho Cordova.

Lead off batter Casey Eason and his teammate Kyle Zirbes, batting 2, both reached base in each of the first 4 innings and scored for a total of 8 runs with 11 RBIs from batters in the 3,4, and 5 positions (Lange, Brewer, Falkenhagen).

Cam Winn, batting 9th hit the team's first triple of the season. Ryan Cortex pitched the first 3 innings giving up only 2 hits and 1 run handing the ball to Chace Warren who completed the remaining 2 innings with no hits or runs.

Helping out their pitchers the defense sparkled as well with Will Lyons smoothly responding to a bad hop reaching over his head to snag a ball that he flipped to second to Casey Eason who completed a slick double play.

Ryan Cortez after moving to left field made a diving catch into foul territory to foil any thoughts of a come back. The Bears have now scored 41 runs in their last 3 games giving up only 12.
