Media Center seeks "Local Heroes"
Around Town, posted by Louise Pencavel, a resident of the Menlo Park: Central Menlo Park neighborhood, on Oct 10, 2006 at 11:01 pm

The Mid-peninsula Community Media Center (the “Media Center”) will honor eight “local heroes” in their first “Local Hero Awards.”

Eight illustrious citizens who live or work in the Media Center’s viewing area will be chosen for this award.

Winners will be selected by a Media Center committee, which will look for people who 1) have helped others in the community “above and beyond the call of duty,” 2) might be described as “unsung”, or under-recognized and 3) have unusual and interesting stories to tell.

Each “Local Hero” will win an opportunity to be featured on a television interview program. Combined with the other local heros, this will create a television series of stimulating and insightful interviews reflecting the varied and colorful population of our mid-peninsula community. The series will air on the Media Center’s local cable channels and will also be streamed on the web in January 2007.

The Media Center welcomes your nomination(s) for this award. You can submit to the Media Center at info@communitymediacenter.net through October 21. Please give us the first and last name of your nomination and a clear description of why you think that person deserves the award. A contact phone number / email address for you and your nominee would be appreciated but are not required. Call 650.494.8686, extension 36, for more information.

The Mid-Peninsula Community Media Center is the local Cable Television Station serving Atherton, East Palo Alto, Menlo Park, Palo Alto, and Stanford. It is a Public Access Facility, where people who live or work in the service area can make their own television programs and take media classes. Also a professional Production Services facility, the Media Center offers location and studio productions, event coverage, studio and equipment rental, media production for the web, post production facilities, and media consulting.
