Preparing for disaster in La Honda

Larry Whitney (chief@lahondafire.org) of the La Honda Fire Department sent the Almanac this notice Feb. 20:

On February 17, the La Honda Fire Department graduated nineteen new Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) members.

These members, who were from throughout the South Coast, attended four Saturday classes on disaster preparedness. They received training on emergency medical care, search and rescue, utility control, and other topics that will be needed should a disaster strike.

Over the last three years, 63 residents have completed this training. A disaster preparedness drill involving past and new CERT members will be held in La Honda on March 10.
