Menlo Atherton High defeats Carlmont High, 7-0
Sports, posted by Angela Sherry, a resident of the Atherton: other neighborhood, on Apr 13, 2010 at 8:33 pm

The depth and strength of M-A Boys tennis came through once again in their win today against Carlmont High School, 7-0. Matt Giordano and Zeke Brown, at #1 Doubles, tried to take their win in straight sets. However, at match point in the 2nd set tiebreaker, 6-3, they were unable to close and had to face a Super Tiebreaker. Losing 12 points in a row, they found themselves down 1-8, facing imminent defeat. This familiar duo was able to regroup and took the next 9 points with a victory of 6-2, 6-7(6), 10-8.

1. Alec Haley (MA) d. Corey Pang 6-0, 6-3

2. Alden Mitchell (MA) d.Brandon Pang 6-2, 7-5

3. Matt Menninger (MA) d. Andrew Kahn 6-2, 4-6, 10-8

4. Avi Shah (MA) d. Gary Gutknecht 6-2, 6-1

1D. Zeke Brown/Matt Giordano (MA) d. Pete Eakin/Dillon Rak 6-2, 6-7, 10-8

2D Jesse Perkins/Christian Perkins (MA) d. Andrew Soirano/Adam Wexler 6-2, 6-3

3D. Daniel Wyndam/Richie Sarwall (MA) d. Matt Sidell/Matt Soirano 6-1, 6-4

Thank you,

Angela Sherry
