Sounds like there's a whole lot of bullying going on in Menlo Park. I just read the comments about the Menlo Park City School District superintendent, Maurice Ghysels, and I am disgusted. We teach our kids not to bully and here we see to "leaders" in our town bullying their employees. Would we let children get away with this behavior? Why are we letting these grown men get away with it?

Thank you Almanac for the continued coverage.
Let's hope this investigator finally interviews the gymnastics staff who have witnessed the unprofessional and bullying behavior by City employee(s) responsible for unfairly firing Teacher Michelle. And let's hope that the City promptly makes the changes necessary to improve the working conditions for those staff dedicated to actually providing a valuable service to our community. Most importantly let's hope that the changes include bringing Teacher Michelle back to the gymnastics program.

The Menlo Park School District should also hire an independent investigator to look into the behavior of superintendent Ghysels, the epitome of a toxic leader. The question begging to be asked was why and how he was hired in the first place.

Who cares why he was hired. Why is he still here? As a former Oak Knoll and Hillview parent, I am saddened to hear about the disgrace that has fallen upon the Menlo Park school district.

At least the governing board for the city is making an effort to investigate any wrongdoing. My only hope is that a similar investigation will also occur with Mr. Ghysels. It certainly will make me reconsider my response the next time they reach out to the community for more money.

"It certainly will make me reconsider my response the next time they reach out to the community for more money. "

And you can bet they will.

Editor's note: Please return to the topic of this thread, which is about the Menlo Park gymnastics program.

How much is the City paying for this outside investigator to review something that the City Manager claimed to have already done? Seems like this could have been easily resolved if there was better City management in place to begin with. While I am glad Michelle's firing is finally being investigated, it's very disappointing that those working for the City making the big bucks can't seem to do their jobs.

Good job to the City Manager for initiating this independent review. Kuddos to the Almanac and to the public for keeping up the pressure for responsiveness. To Taxpayer's response-- I agree that it is unfortunate that we need to pay for this. Since we are investing in this review, lets hope that what comes out for it creates actual change in our our City Management.
