In settling a lawsuit brought by six county citizens in 2011 -- three of Asian ethnicity and three of Latino -- the county Board of Supervisors has agreed to redraw the five district boundaries to comply with state and federal voting rights laws, particularly with respect to minority representation on the board.

Supervisors Cost to taxpayers $1,150,000 they could have avoided this by placing it on the ballot when the Charter Review Committee recommended it. They chose to ignore the Grand jury and the CRC.
