Menlo Park: Sobrato development moves ahead

Menlo Park's M2 industrial district on the east side of town probably ranks second on the list of areas the city would most like to see revived, with the empty car lots on El Camino Real claiming the top spot.

I'm shocked! Lawyers don't produce sales tax! Could it be because so many of the state's legislators are lawyers. My, what a coincidence.

I agree with Cline that there is risk of having the buildings fill up with lawyers. He can do something about that by stating that M-2 is not for professional offices. Even though R&D also doesn't provide sales tax revenue, those businesses might some day when they grow up. Service businesses like law firms won't.
